Microstructure and Hardness Evolution of Solution Annealed Inconel 625/TiC Composite Processed by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

This study deals with the Inconel 625 (IN625) alloy reinforced micro-TiC particles processed by laser powder bed fusion. The microstructure and hardness in as-built solution-annealed states were investigated. microstructures of IN625 IN625/TiC primarily made up columnar grains along building direction. After solution annealing at 1150 °C for 2 h, consisted equiaxed due to recrystallization grain growth. On contrary, composite still presented grains. Therefore, TiC hinder recrystallization, indicating higher stability composite. For composite, both reduced alteration more intensive formation carbides prevent a remarkable reduction state.
